How to Handle Multiple Job Offers (UK)

Having more than one offer is a great position to be in — but it can be stressful to choose, and you don't want to burn bridges. Here's how to compare offers and respond professionally.

How to compare offers

  • Look beyond salary: pension, bonus, holiday, flexible/remote working and progression.
  • Consider the role itself — will you learn and grow?
  • Think about the team, manager and culture.
  • Factor in commute, stability and the company's direction.

How to buy time

If you're waiting on another offer, it's fine to ask for a little time — most employers will give you a few days. Be honest and polite: 'I'm very interested and want to make the right decision — would it be possible to confirm by [date]?'

Declining gracefully

Always decline the other offers politely — the industry is small and you may cross paths again.

Thank you so much for the offer — I really appreciate your time and the chance to learn about [Company]. After careful thought, I've decided to accept another role that's a closer fit for me right now. I hope we can stay in touch, and thanks again.
